Wet Chocolate Cake

I stumbled upon this recipe when Robb and I were dating, and I've made this for his birthday every year since then.


Cake 

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
1 stick butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 eggs
2 cups plain flour
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup plus 3 Tbsp water

Sift flour, cocoa, and baking soda together; set aside. Cream sugar, butter, oil, and eggs together. Then add flour mixture, alternating with water and buttermilk. Pour batter in a greased and floured tube cake pan. Bake at 325 for 50 to 60 minutes.

Icing

Ingredients:

1 stick butter or margarine
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. milk
2 cups powdered sugar

Boil first two ingredients together for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from stove and cool slightly. Add remaining ingredients; then beat. Punch holes in cake. Pour icing over cake while both are still hot.
