Proud Mama Brag

A little background to why I'm about to brag on my child. The twins were born 8 weeks early. Ballerina weighed only 3lbs. I knew that, with her low birth weight, she would be at risk for learning problems as she grew older. She struggled with speech and had therapy when she was 2 and 3. Fast forward to now - she no longer has any speech issues and is doing incredibly well in school. She reads anything and everything she can get her hands on. Most recently, she's been reading the Children's Encyclopedia.

I strongly recommend Excellence in Writing curriculum for homeschooling families. Ballerina's writing has improved so much! This year we are using American History Vol. 1. This is a paragraph she had to write about the French and Indian War.

The French and Indian war was unavoidable in North America. In the 1700's, England and France were enemies. Both thought they owned the Ohio River Valley. In 1754, fighting broke out. Most Indians fought with the French, but only the Iroquois fought with the English. For two years, the French who continually won were victorious. Eventually the joyful English won the war. The appalled French were forced to give up their land. The English now ruled over half of North America. The war had changed the North American map forever.

Soccer birthday cake

I'm just now getting around to editing pics from Sassy Pants's birthday. When I asked her what kind of cake she wanted, her answer was a pink and purple soccer cake. Here's the pink and purple soccer ball cake I made her.

Happy Birthday

Today is the birthday of the smallest of the small people. It's hard to believe that my baby is 5 years old! Before church this morning, we had an impromptu birthday photo shoot.

Those were the good pictures. The rest of the shots completely show her personality.

Spunky, sassy, fun-loving - all words that accurately describe Sassy Pants. Many days, she drives me to the edge of sanity, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. I couldn't imagine my life without her.

Happy Birthday, Princess Sassy!
