This summer my plan is to make our house our home. I figured it's about time; we've only lived here for 6 years. Ha ha!
In the past few years, I've painted The Boy's bedroom and the younger girls' bedroom. So it was about time that the twins' room got some paint on the walls. It was in desperate need of an update. Once upon a time, Sassy shared that room with Soccer Girl. Sassy discovered that her colorful wooden blocks worked great as crayons on the wall and proceeded to decorate one entire section behind the door before anyone noticed. At that time, I decided I wouldn't paint that room until a) Sassy outgrew the "marking on the wall" phase or b) Sassy wasn't in that room anymore. Now is finally that time - I'm fairly certain that Sassy has outgrown that phase (although I don't put anything past her) and we rearranged rooms earlier this year and now this room is shared by Soccer Girl and Ballerina.
To say Soccer Girl and Ballerina are different would be quite an understatement. Ballerina is a girly-girl; she likes pink and frills. Soccer Girl HATES pink and frilly. I thought trying to come to an agreement on color would be extremely difficult. Thankfully I was wrong. They both quickly agreed on turquoise.
I am not a professional painter. I work slowly. I hate the prep work. The twins' room has a white chair rail molding all the way around the room so - not only did I have to tape the door, closet, and window - I also had to tape that thing. While taping off everything took an entire afternoon, painting went much quicker. I was able to get that done in 2 days.
Here are some pictures of the final product:
