We were absolutely thrilled to get the Egglo Eggs! We got 12 eggs in 4 different colors - yellow, green, pink, and blue. The blue and green eggs have crosses embossed on them, and the yellow and pink ones are plain. It doesn't take much to charge the eggs, either, for them to glow - just 30 minutes in sunlight or 60 minutes in incandescent light. These are only $9.99 for a dozen, and Egglo Entertainment has a special going on right now of buy 3, get 1 free. In addition to that, the more you buy, the more of a discount you receive.
We had an indoor in-the-dark hunt with these. I wanted to do one outside, but we had 3 solid weeks of rain and freezing weather. We used the Egglo Scripture Scrolls as fillers. Before we put them in the eggs, we went through each scroll, reading the Bible verse and talking about what the verse was about and how they can use that truth in their lives. As they found the eggs, they got the matching Egglo Bible Verse Stickers. We could also fill the eggs with candy, stickers, or small prizes.
There are so many other fun ideas for using these eggs. In fact, there is a whole board on Pinterest full of ideas. I love the wreath and garland ideas. These are beautiful decorations during the day as the eggs charge, but then at night, they glow in the dark. How beautiful!
I read the book The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure with the girls. This 40-page book tells about 3 children who follow the glowing eggs and Bible verses they contain to learn more about following Jesus. The girls loved the book, and I loved the message it shared. I think that it would be fun to use the eggs to go on a treasure hunt similar to the one in the book.
