For the first time, last year I chose a word for the year. I liked it more than setting goals, although goals were a part of my word choice, because it gave me a focus across my life.
I thought that, after having chosen a word last year, it would be easy for me to come up with a word for this year. I was wrong. I'm pretty sure it was as hard, if not harder, for me to decide on the word that I wanted to make my focus for 2017.
The word I finally settled on is GROWTH.
I chose this word because I want growth in all areas of my life this year.
Spiritual Growth - I'm planning to spend this year diving into my Bible to really study several topics and specific books. I'm starting the year with an in-depth study of prayer, using Kay Arthur's Lord, Teach Me to Pray in 28 Days and Priscilla Shirer's Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer.
Mental Growth - I plan to read at least 26 books this year, with at least 10 of them being non-fiction. That averages to one every 2 weeks, so it should be do-able.
Physical Growth - Well, technically I don't need to grow in this area; I need to shrink! But I do want to get in better physical shape - losing weight and gaining strength. I don't want to look like a body builder; I just want to have a healthy life.
Financial Growth - I'm sure most of us would like to have more financial stability. I'm planning to become a Pampered Chef consultant in the next month, mostly holding online parties. (If you would like to host a party, leave me a comment here or on my FB page.) I've also been using Swagbucks to set aside a little extra money to buy gifts. I figure since I do most of my shopping online anyway, I might as well get a little back. If you aren't familiar with Swagbucks, check it out!
Do you have a word for 2017? What is it?
