Quiet

**For those of you visiting me from the A to Z challenge, welcome! I'm homeschooling through the alphabet.**

Although I have learned to be more outgoing, in reality, I am an introvert. There is nothing I like more than to slip away by myself somewhere quiet.

Q is for Quiet

Homeschooling 5 small people all day means there is usually at least 1 person talking ALL. DAY. LONG. There are times when I seek quiet. I can always tell when I need to find a quiet place because I can feel myself getting anxious and starting to snap at the small people. In the past we've had a "quiet time" as part of the daily schedule. The little ones would nap. Those too old to nap would read or do some other quiet activity.

For some unknown reason, this has been dropped from my schedule for the past 2 years. I think I'm going to need to add it back soon. I know the twins would like to learn to do needlepoint/cross stitch/etc. This would be a great activity for them during a quiet time.

Do you need quiet time?

  1. We all need a quiet time; a walk round the garden, on the beach or just curled up with a book. Sometimes with children, bless them, you don't always get the opportunity.

    1. L,
You are right. Quiet time is so important, but not always available.

  5. I absolutely need quiet time! My youngest talks all day from the minute she gets up till she goes to bed at night. The other two kids make all kinds of noise and my house is constantly filled with some kind of noise at all times. So retreating to the bedroom and putting in ear plugs for a few minutes a day is a must. I'd go crazy without quiet time

  6. I like quiet time at home. I don't turn the television on for days. I hear the little voices at work (and I love my job) but I also like time to myself when I am home.

  8. What a great post, and congrats for home schooling the small people! I just read an article the other day about a family, quite large actually that home schooled all of their children, and I think it was 6 of those children that were in college by the age of 12 yrs. old. That, I must say is quite an accomplishment for those parents, and they should be very, very proud.

Yes, quite time is always on my list....I don't have small people, but I find when I am reading, writing or crocheting...I am getting my quite time in. www.sandysanderellasmusings.blogspot.com

  9. Oh, yes, I need quiet time. I can completely imagine you would need it. When I was a nanny for three boys, believe me we had quiet time! :) Even when they were well past naps, because it was really the only break I got all day. I always thought it was good for them, too, just to unwind.
