Our Faux Sleepover

For the twins' birthday party, we decided to have a faux sleepover. Faux = artificial, imitation, fake. Why? Because I don't think I could handle 8 to 10 additional girls overnight. My own 4 are quite enough. Instead, we had our "sleepover" from 6-9pm, told the girls to wear their pj's, and did sleepover activities.

When the girls got here, we had pizza for dinner. Afterward they went in the living room, where they watched a movie while I painted their nails. After nails were dry, it was back to the kitchen to put together campfire cones, waffle cones they filled with their choice of marshmallows, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, and coconut. While these were baking, the girls opened presents.

When the campfire cones were ready, we sang happy birthday to the birthday girls and then ate cupcakes and cones.

After eating, the girls played a game I found on Pinterest. You wrap candy in a huge ball of packing tape. One player gets the tape ball and the player in front of them a pair of dice. The player with the ball removes tape as fast as they can and anything they dislodge is theirs to keep. The player with the dice is trying to roll doubles as quickly as they can so they get a turn. As soon as they get doubles they pass the dice to the person next to them. Here's the picture from the original blog post at I'm a Young Women's Leader...Now What?
After the game, we turned out the living room lights, gave the girls glo-stick bracelets, and watched the rest of the movie until parents came.

  1. I love this idea -- I have a six year old who is dying for a sleepover but I don't think she is ready. This seems a perfect compromise. Thanks for sharing!
    And super cute pics!

    1. Yep, all the sleepover fun for the girls, none of the sleepover stress for mom. :)

  2. It sounds like you packed a whole sleepover's worth of fun into those few hours, so it was a success! I've never heard of these campfire cones, but I'm thinking I might want to try that the next time I babysit my nieces and nephews. Or this weekend by myself...either way :)

Thanks for stopping by Tales of a Pee Dee Mama. I love to hear from my friends!
