No Nutcracker This Year

Back in May, we made the decision for Ballerina to leave the dance company she had been with for the past 5 years. For 5 years, October and November have been completely taken over by Nutcracker rehearsals. Here are pictures from last year's Nutcracker.

Ballerina is very happy with her new dance studio. She's switched from only studying classical ballet and has added lyrical, which she really enjoys. She's even thinking about adding jazz next year. Her new instructor is super sweet and encouraging.

Moving to the new studio means that she isn't dancing in the Nutcracker this year. The new studio only has a recital in the spring, which doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I am seriously enjoying not thinking about theater week, not having to be at the theater every night for hours for an entire week.

My fear was that Ballerina would have a really hard time getting through this season since she's not dancing in the Nutcracker. God, however, provided a way for her to get through this. Turns out that she has a stress fracture in her ankle and can't fully dance until mid-January. It seems strange to be thankful for a stress fracture, but I am.
