Five Minute Friday - Build

I'm joining up at Five Minute Friday over at Five Minute Friday. Each week she shares a prompt, and you write on that prompt for 5 minutes. This week's prompt is "build."

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this week's prompt was this verse:
Psalm 127:1a Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.

Then my mind started churning. Is the Lord building my house? Am I letting Him? I want the answer to those questions to be yes, but I know that so many times I start to give God control of my house - my life, my children, my home - and then I snatch it back from Him.

Those little thoughts of "This is so minor that I don't need to bother God with it" creep into my head while I wrestle control back into my own hands.

My goal for my house is that we follow the Lord. That we live lives that honor Him. That I raise my children to one day be Christ-following adults, not simply because I've told them to but because they have a relationship with Him and desire to walk with Him on their own. I don't want these goals to be in vain, though, so I'm working much harder on allowing the Lord to build this house instead of myself.

  1. Great goal! I want my kids to serve the Lord, too, because they have a relationship with Him. I pray we can all model that for our kids.

  2. Our FMF posts went along similar lines today! It's far too easy to snatch back control at times but much better when we let God build the house! Visiting from #32.

Thanks for stopping by Tales of a Pee Dee Mama. I love to hear from my friends!
