Read-Aloud: The Bronze Bow

I'm joining many of my Crew friends in Blogging Through the Alphabet.

One of my favorite parts of homeschooling when my children were younger was read-aloud time. My theme for this trip through the alphabet is read-alouds.

B is for The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare

Daniel bar Jamin was a Galilean whose father was crucified. Fueled by his desire to avenge his father's death, he joins forces with a band of guerrilla youth who are trying to fight back against their Roman rule. Daniel's friend Simon takes him to hear Jesus speak, and Daniel is intrigued by his teachings, but confused as to why Jesus doesn't take an active stand against the Romans.

The Bronze Bow is another Newberry Medal winner. I used this as a read-aloud when we were studying the Roman Empire and Jesus' ministry.

This is a great read-aloud for 3rd grade and older.
