Excelerate SPANISH review

It is extremely important to me that my children get a good solid foreign language education throughout their schooling. Being able to communicate, even on a very minimal level, with people who speak a different language from them would benefit them for life. With this in mind, I was very excited for us to have the opportunity to review Excelerate SPANISH Streaming from Excelerate SPANISH.

For this review, we received a one-year streaming membership with access to levels 1 and 2.

Brittany has been using the Excelerate SPANISH Streaming program for the past few weeks. Each lesson contains a video that teaches the information. Each video is 45-50 minutes long, so she has been breaking that into three smaller sections to watch over the course of the week. As she watches the videos, she makes notes in a notebook to review her words. There are also flash cards and activities she accesses on Quizlet that correlate with the Excelerate SPANISH lessons. Between the notes in her notebook and reviewing the Spanish words on Quizlet, she is developing a very good Spanish vocabulary.

In the Spanish Level 1 videos, the instructor says a sentence in Spanish and then writes it on the board. All of the sentences combine to create a story. Each Spanish word is accompanied by a motion to help students remember it better. At the end of the video, the instructor reads the story in Spanish while the students on the video (as well as Britt) do the motions that accompany the words.

Right now she is working on lessons in Spanish Level 1, but we have also looked at a few lessons at Level 2. The set up for the Level 2 videos is similar to the ones in Level 1. The difficulty of the words increases as the lessons in each level increase. The students in Level 2 are different from the ones in Level 1 which gives some variation.

Brittany likes that the information is written on the board so she can copy it into a notebook. She also likes that there are motions for the words. Britt is an extremely kinesthetic and visual learner so this approach works very well for her.

I really appreciate the fact that Brittany is able to 1) do Spanish on her own because I have no Spanish background so I'm not much help there and 2) work at her own pace - if she feels like she needs to rewatch a video or review the words, she can.
